Would it be possible to formulate a list of writing companies that are registered in the UK or USA, et al?
It is clear that foreign companies put people in real danger of being scammed. Therefore, surely a list of the UK based companies would help eliminate this risk, whist also not advertising any company, which is against the rules of the forum?

DrDavies: whist also not advertising any company, which is against the rules of the forum? And no.
Way to have the same idea that someone new has every week, though.

well if you do what i did then you should be safe, call them and speak to them. Ask for their UK registration number and ask them a few questions about the local area. Listen to how they sound too. They should sound native.

Yeah, but US companies have to register with the Sec of State, and UK companies have to register with the Company House. Actual companies based in these countries have publicly accessible records and can be held accountable to the laws of those countries.
You really need to think before you type.

Exactly phee!!!
If this site wants people to stop getting scammed, then this is a workable solution. It appears to me that this forum is all mudslinging and no solutions.

DrDavies: It appears to me that this forum is all mudslinging and no solutions. This forum is clearly and explicitly about exposing scams, not about promoting or advertising decent companies. If you don't like it, go start your own forum.

Exposing scams, is excellent! But surely, assisting people in not getting scammed in the first-place would also be productive?
Prevention is better than cure?

DrDavies: But surely, assisting people in not getting scammed in the first-place would also be productive? Yes, it would be, if it could be done in a way that doesn't allow false promotion and thus lead to greater scamming. That's not what this site is here for, though.
