The website claims that it employs more than 500 writers from UK

Why couldn't they get a British writer to write the content for their website.

has it ever struck anyone that since a lot of the customers in this industry are ESL, they wouldn't really be as picky... the professor would be expecting misused English from them in the first place. some places even tell writers to "dumb it down." my point is, why is this even an issue?

It is an issue becasue they do not say:
we are a company targeting only ESL students with pathetic English as our own.
I am an ESL myself, and it is not true that most ESL people would be OK with this kind of crap.
I have dealt with many ESL customers myself, it is naive to believe that all of them or even a majority of them have the same standard as fastcustom....

of course there's no blanket policy-- it's more about catering to each customer's needs. some ESL customers don't want it dumbed-down at all, depending on their skill at English, and/or level of realism about class/paper discrepancies. I'm just saying, if someone can't match their verbs, and doesn't get any prepositions right in English anyway, why not let them hire a writer who matches their (lack of) skills?

Why would anyone would have any issues with that. However FCE is not advertising what you are saying.
