I've been writing for essay companies for three years and I just couldn't believe that I would have my first taste of being scammed by a writing company which from all appearances seems to be legitimate.
I applied with Writers.ph last December when there was a lull in the flow of work from the two other companies that I write for and I was initially impressed by the way they handled my application and by the appearance and structure of their website.
Though the payout was quite low, the company's promise of "promotion" and "advancement" seemed like a good trade off; there was something comforting about the interactivity that one would get upon logging on the site- there was tech and customer support, online chat, etc...
The first warning bell sounded when a stupid customer (sorry, but most of them are) asked for a revision without obviously reading the paper written for him and it resulted in an automatic deduction from my payment. Just like that- I complained, but there was no response.
And then it just began to slide downhill when "plagiarized" papers would conveniently crop up everytime I reminded them of my late salary- the shocking thing was that the software they were using to check for plagiarism was a low-level program that needed human qualitative analysis which they never did apply. All they keep saying was that my work was being checked by "quality control".
It was apparent at this point that something was really wrong- they couldn't be checking papers that had already beem submitted to the client three weeks ago..
I stopped taking new orders and realized too late when I googled writers.ph, that complaints about writers.ph were rife all over the net. I had a suspicion that they were just waiting for me to go over the edge and use it as an excuse to terminate my services. I decided that it was just money and that I could earn it again, ten times over in a way that was dignified and professional. After a strongly worded message to customer support, I discovered 4 hours later that indeed, they had terminated my services by simply de-activating my log-in name and password.
The simple fact for freelance writers- and I've been writing professionally since high school- is that if you don't get paid on time, then it's a scam plain and simple. It's the only dignity we're entitled to as we grit our teeth at some of the abuse and complaint heaped on us by some customers who feel that because they pay us, they're already entitled to unwarranted and mis-informed criticism.
But the worst thing of all, is to have the company itself- and one that passes itself off as for Filipinos- to be the perpetrators of abuse.

In another thread, it says that writers.ph is owned by the Ukrainian company Essaywriters.net. What do you think?

I just joined writers.ph, and yes the orders seem to all be academic papers. I checked essays.ph out, and I found the 'apply online' page a bit weird. To boot, one of their questions is written in bad grammar, it creeped me out. "What other online gigs did you joined?" - I mean, seriously, it's supposed to be a 'writing' company and that's how they write. What's up with that? That's just plain weird. Even my 8 year old sister chuckled when I showed her the line. Some doubts about the legitimacy of a company will naturally surface with that kind of writing. Is that company really for real? And if it is, I'd like to ask WHY??? and WHAT FOR??? I mean, seriously.

Well I am not promoting here writers.ph but I am explaining my experience over here. For plagiarism, ryanlove, you said that they have penalized you for plagiarism, well really I have doubts about that. I have three reports which were checked for plagiarism. 2 were random and 1 was due to complaint. As no paper was plagiarized, I got reports of 0% all three times. So if you were said to have plagiarized, then you really plagiarized. Moreover, they have paid me so I have no doubts that they pay. I don't know that whether I will be paid next time or not, but I think truth is truth and that has to been enlightened. Also there is no doubt that it is the sister company of Essaywriters.net which is portrayed as scam in this forum. I have never used EW.net so will not comment about that at all no matter what any one will say. I am expecting a payout in 2 days. I will come again and let you know what happened to me.

Most of these new writer mills are owned by Chinese/Japanese owners. They do a better job than the Ukarainian fraudsters with their rather draconian and cleverly drafted writer's contract clauses. A new trend that these crooks have is to offer "300 words per page" for almost 4-6 dollars which is against standard industrial practice.Their contracts also stipulate that they will "hold" back some of your payments to pay for the promotion and advertisement of their businesses.Do not be fooled.An honest essay writing company will pay you as soon as the revision period expires and will never delay your payments.I always say this and I repeat.Do not sell your talent to these thugs for peanuts.Infact the only way to stop them is to boycott their draconian contracts and meagre wages.

well... Nothing to be ashamed of... I am not giving a grammar test here for you people...
Well there are still some issues that have to been seen differently...
When you talk about these Chinese & Japanese owner you are completely forgetting the other prospective... It is up to the writer to decide what is best for him... At first place we all are part of this business which we always hide as the technical writing don't have any regulations on which they are based upon... A student cannot say that he has made his assignment from somewhere else so that are we all about...
Moreover, when you talk about these standards they are just for the payment... And also a point that needs to be mentioned is that ESL writers still are doing most of the work for the students... And that is for sure that they are somehow living up to the promise...
Getting $4 to $6 is quite high for someone who resides in most part of the world... What really is the problem you always put forward...
On the account of writers.ph, it is one of those companies that have paid me... I put emphasis on this because everyone here says they are fraud... OK, you say and I agree but what I am supposed to say as I have got payment from them... ???

You know exwriter... I have nothing against you or any other writer who is the member of this forum. Listen! I was here to get help and work. But what I always got was the harsh comments by everyone. A circle over here seems to know everything here and feel that they are helping people... But they are just making them hopeless. I know that this is the best place for everyone to make a good repute and then get work... This is not the thing. This should not be happening over here on neutral forums. Mr. Mak & Ms WB and some others always feel that they have the right to say whatever they want and others here are just rubbish...
About comprehension !!! I am not here to give any comprehension and grammar test to you people... My customers are highly satisfied by my work and that's how I work... Just working by myself... Not just banging others and getting works by saying wrong things...
