separating useful and non-useful posts

I know that there is already a dump thread for useless flame wars, but it doesn't seem to be working. wouldn't this forum be a better place if the mod were a bit more severe in this aspect? or, since people don't like having their posts dumped, maybe there could be a separate section in which members who are constantly in each other's faces can have their own threads, under "___ vs. ___" headings.

I only suggest this because every thread, no matter how nobly or innocently it starts, seems to devolve into a spat between feuding regulars. these spats are probably riveting to the people in them. however, I assume that most people come to this forum for useful information, and I think that it's a shame that most of these bystanders wind up as the collateral damage of other members' *********.

until the mods crack down like they should, I want to put out an open call to all posters: think before you post something meaningless and childish, and check out the title of the thread in which you're posting. just take a few seconds, take a deep breath, and ask yourself: does what I'm writing have anything to do with this thread?

I'm not saying I'm innocent, either, but this is something I want to change. I want this forum to be a better place, because I think it has the potential to be a more useful resource, and that the constant polemics are really bringing everything down.

thanks for listening.

You have a lot of nerve posting this thread, buddy. All you do is jump into threads and snipe at people, solely to create conflict.

you're right, WB; I do. what I'm trying to do here is say, I should stop it, and you should, too. never mind the snideness and accusatory tone; do you think this is a good idea or not?

I have already proposed similar plans in the past. It will not work. As soon as I post the results of an investigation, the liars and fraudsters come out of the woodwork to personally attack me because, quite literally, that's all they can do. They certainly can't refute my evidence. Unfortunately, that's just how it is.
